It is said that 17th of May is the International Internet Day.
There are different iniciatives going on, and in particular in Red Conecta (Esplai - Spain) some telecentres are preparing special activities such opening sessions, promotional acts... I have also seen this posts:

Are you preparing any special thing to celebrate this day from your Telecentre? Do you want to share your ideas with other Telecentre Staff?

Your contributions will be very welcome.
Thanks!

Hello everybody!
In Telecentre.org there are posts from people that are organizing different events. As I mentioned above, in Red Conecta (Spain) there are things going on as well in many Telecentres. One of the activities is setting video-conferences between facilitators to introduce each other and present the projects, promote interaction, iniciatives...

Why don't we facilitate this contact through video-chat between telecentres from different regions? Anyone interested?

Dear all,
In order to celebrate this years International Communication Day, in Zambia, we have prepared the following events:
1. A March past through whcuh a number of public and private sector IT and ICT organisations are to be involved. We are to have street walk of a distance of 4 Km to the meeting place. The Minister of Communications is to address a gathering.
2. An exhibtion is to be held at the same venue for 4 days from 17th to 22nd to concide with two International conferences.

The exihibition is to show what happens in the ICT/IT sector with focus on internet protection on children. Few telecenters are to join be involved.

The participants to the conference and general public are to see what happens in the ICT sector in Zambia.

Thnaks

As I wrote in a post some days ago, in Esplai Foundation we prepared some activities to celebrate the Internet International Day.

In some of the Telecentres that belong to our network, facilitators made exhibitions, open courses and special activities to show the community the benefits, in terms of quality of life, that ICT and Telecentres can generate. One of the iniciatives set was to contact and interact with other telecentre users/facilitators in order to exchange perspectives, opinions, and talk about the dynamics of the center.

Thanks to ICT we can contact with people no matter how far they are, so we could keep interesting conversations with Telecentre managers and facilitators from different parts of Spain and from Zambia.

Dean Mulozi was the contact person in Zambia who facilitated this experience. There was an important event where he was involved, ITU Africa Regional Forum on ICT at the Mulungushi Conference Center, and from there, he and another colleage could get online and dialog with Pedro Martín (Asociación Iniciativas Fontarrón, from Madrid). Some people from the event in Zambia and some users from the Telecentre in Madrid could listen and enjoy the expericence.

Luckily I followed up their conversation too, as a translator, and I can say that it was really interesting. It is amazing how telecentre's facilitators deal with the same issues, projects, necessities and challenges, even being in such a different reality and context. Sostenability and user's profile/needs were the themes that took the major part of the talk. It is also interesting to realize about the differences and the diversity of situations that can be lived in a Telecentre...

At the begining of the preparations we wanted to plan a concret exchange about Internet Security and children resources, but finally we decided to start with a general presentation, a testing contact to introduce ourselves and check how we could manage... We agreed we could organise this content exchange for another ocasion.

We hope we can plan it soon and mantain the contact for further iniciatives. On behalf of people in Esplai, I would like to thank Dean Mulozi for his dedication. And of course, I encourage other members of this community to get in touch with other facilitators/managers from different regions, countries or realities. It is a really nice experience, and it is so easy!
