What we do as an organization (100-word description)
telecentre.org is a global community of people and organizations committed to increasing the social and economic impact of grassroots telecentres. Working together, we provide the resources that telecentres need to succeed: locally relevant content and services, support and learning opportunities, and networks that help telecentre activists connect to each other. With these things in hand, tens of thousands of telecentres will be in a better position to enrich the communities they serve.
My function in the organization
I lead the knowledge sharing and communications team
What ICT or e-Skill training programs does your organization offer?
One of our initiatives, the telecentre.org Academy, aims to train one million telecentre managers by 2010 and establish systems to support their ongoing professional development. The Academy works with national partners to set up local academies and then connect them into a global network that provides certification, support, and a curriculum clearinghouse.
Other services and activities:
Knowledge sharing
Research
Content & service development
Network support
