Day 5 started with a morning meeting. Yvonne Garcia-Flores from Intel was very kind to accept Tess’s invitation to meet me and talk about how Intel is involved in PhilCecNet.

If during the third day we’ve traveled to the northern part of Manila, next day was planned for the southern area, specifically Bulacan area where we have visited an eSkwela center. We were accompanied there by the eSkwela program Director, Ms Maria Melizza D. Tan, who presented the mainframe and concept of eSkwela, which was created by the Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT).

The third day started early in the morning with a trip to the northern area of Metro Manila, where we had our first meeting at PCCARD (The Philippine Council for Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources Research and Development) in Los Banos, Laguna. The day started with a presentation of eLGU (Jumpstarting Electronic Governance in Local Government), an initiative of CICT that assists local governments in the smooth transition to eGovernance. Warm greetings from Manila to all!
As the first day of my study visit has come to an end, I am now looking back at the inspirational discussions and meetings throughout the day.
