PH International of Russia wins GOW12's report contest!

During the month of April, Telecentre-Europe launched a contest among the national partners of 
Get Online Week 2012 for the best report of the organized activities. PH International of Russia came out as the absolute winner and wins the cash prize of 2000€, followed by our partners in 
Latvia & 
Lithuania on equal footing and by another ex aequo of
 Germany & 
Moldova.

Congratulations to the winner, and to all the national partners that submitted reports!

Participants could win numerous points by entering different elements (a general report, success stories, photos, videos and a media coverage report). In total, 
21 countries participated in the competition. It revealed that lots of smart, original and engaging activities were organized during Get Online Week 2012, for different target groups and around the themes of intergenerational learning, youth employability, active aging, civic participation, social engagement and women in ICT.

GOW12's campaign manager 
Laurentiu Bunescu and myself acted as the judges of the report contest. This is the 
conclusion of our jury report:


"The 
report from Russia was definitely the best report: both the contents & layout were absolutely fabulous: a short introduction that gave a good overview, sticky notes with feedback from participants, an overview of the topics covered by the activities, detailed statistics, a map with an overview of participating cities with participants per cities, a resume of success stories, a description of events per city and a highlighting of the partner that reached most people, all illustrated with the corresponding pictures. There were also 47 (!) beautiful pictures posted as a 
photo essay album on the community site, all from different activities and each of them well described and commented. Russia also posted 4 great success stories on the community site, well written, well illustrated with pictures and with a good text-picture layout [1 |

4]. As for the 
videos, it was a pity that only 2 videos were entered and 
only 1 of them was subtitled with some subtitles that were difficult to read. But summing up all points for the different elements and because the general report reached the maximum score, Russia came out as the true winner of this contest".

Examples of some eye-catching activities were:

the training of the cafetaria staff at the Agricultural University of Volgograd in Russia; the "Generation Dialogue" at the Library of Pietrari in Romania; the educational seminar about robotics for high school students at the Computer Users Academy of Vilnius in Lithuania; the project with Android Tablet PCs for senior citizens at a senior residence in Bremen, Germany; the ICT career day for 9 to 12 grade students to discover professions of the ICT industry in Latvia;

the "Around the world in 80 minutes" quiz at the public Library in Susz, Poland; the photo, video & powerpoint contest in Moldova; the "European Internet Hunt" in the UK, the participation of the Embroidery Guild, connecting sewing with digital technique at the Library of Katrineholm in Sweden; the free ECDL testing for acquiring a European Computer Driving License in Serbia and many, many more...
